Shakti Fest

Attending Shakti Fest for the first time was a sweet little adventure. Also known as Bhakti Fest Spring Ommersion, it took place in Joshua Tree, California over Mother’s Day weekend, in the same place where Bhakti Fest happens in the fall. The three days of Kirtan music, yoga, and workshops were nourishing, exciting, exhausting, and well, happy.  I had the wonderful experience of attending a Deep Yoga class led by Bhava Ram of San Diego.  The class was on Sunday afternoon just as I was feeling a bit depleted from the heat and dryness.  We were in a shaded area outdoors with live sitar and Bhava’s gentle voice leading us into poses of healing and acceptance.  It was exactly what I needed at that moment, and it helped me finish off the festival refreshed and peaceful.  Kind of perfect.

Our Coconut Bliss booth was situated near the main stage, so we had the privilege of watching all the performers over the course of the weekend. It was an honor to offer festival goers our creamy, delicious Dark Chocolate and Naked Coconut Bars, and our festival-only cookie sandwiches.  The afternoon dessert sun felt a little less penetrating while enjoying some yummy, cooling Coconut Bliss.

Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda performed at the festival and helped out in the Coconut Bliss booth.  On Saturday night they dipped our Ginger Cookie Caramel and Cherry Amaretto to raise funds for the charity Food for Life.  Both flavors were a big hit.  Thank you to everyone who donated for a scoop.

We’ll be at the fall Bhakti Fest, so look for us there if you go.  We’d love to see you and help cool you off with some Bliss on a stick, or our crazy delicious, and still gluten, dairy and soy-free, Bliss sandwiches.  Cheers to the start of a great summer festival season.
