Our Retired Flavors

Many of us still recall these flavors from those days during Coconut Bliss's infancy in 2004-5. Luna and Larry had discovered 'Bliss' in a $1.50 Goodwill 'hand crank' ice cream maker. But once they decided to make it for friends, they upgraded to a 3 quart imported (from Italy!) gelato maker (see the photo; Larry is loading the gelato maker). People started attending those now famous 'Bliss Tasting Parties' at Luna & Larry's house in the Whiteaker (a neighborhood in Eugene, Oregon), and it got a lot of use. 

This was a great time of excitement and experimentation, during which Luna and Larry were coming up with new flavors practically every day. Some of these--though fun to make-- took HUGE amounts of time and effort, as the ingredients were difficult to source, and the preparation processes were often very involved. For example, Luna would hand mix the bananas (see photo below) for their 'Banana Hazelnut' pints. For their Pistachio Cardamon, they hand ground their own Pistachio butter...

For those of us who were around in those days, these flavors will continue to live on fondly in our memories. But don't worry...exciting new flavors are (always) in the works. And you never know--perhaps some of these old flavors will make their way back into the line-up.
