Vegan Certification: Have Your Bliss and Eat It Too
Coinciding with World Vegan Month in November, we’re happy to announce that Coconut Bliss has partnered with the Vegan Awareness Foundation to become vegan certified!
Our vegan ice cream carries the Certified Vegan Logo with pride. It reflects our values and our commitments to the world around us. It can be seen alongside our other third party certifications, including Certified Organic, Certified Gluten-Free, Non-GMO Verified, and Kosher Pareve. We understand that it can be a struggle to find quality food that you trust, and we want to help you easily find your bliss and eat it too.
With a third party certification your conscience can rest easy knowing that an independent entity has set specific ingredient standards for the certification and ensures those standards through regular audits. We know it’s important to read product labels, and though we’d love for you to take a peek at our organic ingredient statements, we know you are sometimes in a hurry. Certification logos are easily recognizable and can help you make quick choices at a glance.
The Vegan Awareness Foundation
The Vegan Awareness Foundation, a United States-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is dedicated to educating the public about veganism and assisting vegan-friendly businesses. The Vegan Awareness Foundation runs Vegan.org, one of the longest running and most visited vegan websites in the world. Along with granting certifications, the team also administers the Certified Vegan Logo.
It’s an honor to partner with a long established organization that shares our philanthropic ideals. The Vegan Awareness Foundation introduces organizations to veganism through their Humane Outreach Campaign, brings vegan food into public and private facilities through their Food Service Campaign, and educates animal welfare teams about veganism. The organization also leads plant-based cooking and nutrition lessons for students and community groups and shares ideas through outreach and the Share Vegan Campaign.
What does Vegan Certification Mean?
It may seem as simple as saying No Animal Products, but when a number of varied processes, system structures, and supply chains are involved, defining what vegan means becomes essential to the integrity of certified vegan food.
Products approved to carry the Certified Vegan logo must meet the following criteria:
• No Animal Products
Products must not contain ingredients of meat, fish, fowl, animal by-products, including silk or dyes from insects, eggs or egg products, milk or milk products, honey or honey bee products, or be clarified or finished with any animal products.
• No Animal Testing
Products must involve no animal testing of ingredients or finished product by supplier, producer, manufacturer or independent party.
• No Animal GMO’s
Products must contain no known animal-derived GMOs or genes used to manufacture ingredients or finished products.
• Provide Verification
Products must provide supplier verification that animal products were not used in the manufacturing of ingredients.
Why do we support plant-based diet choices?
Coconut Bliss is built on a foundation of sustainable principles and triple bottom line business practices. Research shows that adopting a plant-based diet helps reduce deforestation, decrease carbon emissions, combat water pollution, conserve water and land use, and improve soil health.
Eating is a profoundly personal and cultural experience, and your food choices are an investment. When you choose Coconut Bliss, you are also supporting real people. Our global supply chain is a network consisting of family-owned businesses that give back to their communities and care for their workers. The ingredients we source are chosen for their superior quality with lower impact on the environment. We bring all of this together to offer exceptional plant-based desserts and blissful experiences for all beings.
