When we embarked on the next step to bring more bliss into your life, we took note of conversations around community meeting spaces, event tables, kitchen counters, and backyard porches. Your requests in our inboxes were also powerfully persuasive. At the heart of our mission, we want to bring you clean food that you love and that makes you feel good. We value simple, familiar ingredients that promote sustainability and allow you to trust that what you put in your body is not only good for you, but good for the world.
In late April, our two new bars – yes, TWO! – will hit store shelves. Our hearts are bursting with joy over these offerings. One flavor combines the joy of childhood nostalgia with the euphoria of bringing past loves into the present moment. The other flavor offers the adventurous joy that comes with caring for our bodies without sacrificing indulgence. We cannot choose one enjoyment over the other, so we combined our passions with our newest dipped bar offerings – Vanilla Island in Chocolate and Raspberry Acai in Chocolate.
With our new products, we continue a tradition of bringing you food with clear, clean labels that list organic ingredients that are good for you, the communities they support, and the environment.
We choose organic, because it’s eco-kind, promotes healthy soil, contributes to cleaner water, and builds a foundation of sustainable agriculture for generations to come. When you choose Coconut Bliss, you can enjoy the amazing flavor instead of wondering where it’s from and what it’s doing to your health and the health of the planet.
THE DIVINE BALANCE OF VANILLA AND CHOCOLATE
Introducing Vanilla Island in Chocolate
The Vanilla Island in Chocolate bar is the quintessential frozen treat that wraps the delicately sweet flavor of organic coconut milk in rich, smooth, organic, Fair Trade dark chocolate.
We created this treat with intuition as our guide.
Pairing the warmth of vanilla with the soothing familiarity of chocolate provides a no-nonsense experience that is sure to satisfy whether wrapped in a warm blanket next to a fire or lolling in freshly cut grass on a summer day.
Our vanilla doesn’t merely feel like home, it helps improve the lives and homes of those who grow and harvest it. We are proud to partner with Lochhead Manufacturing Company based out of Evergreen, CO. This family-owned business supports its own community and the communities of their suppliers in Madagascar.
Producing vanilla requires knowledge, focus, patience, and care. When the vanilla pods bloom in the Spring, the flowers must be pollinated within 12 hours of opening. The farmers patiently do so by hand and personally attend to their plants for the next five to six months while the plants mature. They are dried in morning sun for an additional six months. After the growth process, the pods provide pure, organic vanilla that is the inspiration for our Vanilla Island Coconut Bliss.
Vanilla doesn’t just tempt our taste buds and offer pleasing aromas, studies reflect much broader benefits. Vanilla extract is a source of potassium, magnesium, manganese, iron, zinc, and calcium. It has also shown positive impacts on mood, inflammation, immune system function, and heart health.
Our vanilla is inspiring in many ways, including our supplier’s community work. Lochhead Manufacturing Company seeks to care for their vanilla growers in the way that their growers care for their vanilla – carefully and with compassionate attention. Through the Vanwell Project, Lochhead installs fresh drinking water wells in the region where their growers live. Providing support at the community level ensures continued growth in the region and positively impacts the wellness of its people.
The Lochhead team also prioritizes sustainability and social responsibility within their workplace. They have initiated internal company programs that focus on energy efficiency, waste reduction processes, recycling, and low impact packaging.

THE ALLURING TREASURES OF RASPBERRY & ACAI
Introducing Raspberry Acai in Chocolate
The flavor combination of juicy red raspberries mixed with the bold tartness of acai nestled within velvety organic, Fair Trade dark chocolate is exotic and blissful.
To achieve this enticing flavor combination, we use only pure and simple fruit powder. Most fruit-flavored masterpieces – even in the natural food world – offer the blanket ingredients of “natural flavors” or “natural color” in their nutrition profiles. Not us. We want you to know what’s in your dessert – plain and simple.
We clearly list Organic Raspberry and Organic Acai in the ingredient statement of our new Raspberry Acai in Chocolate bar. The vibrant color and stunning flavor are the results of the nutrient-rich fruit powders.
Fruit powder is simply what it sounds like – finely ground dried fruit. The technique creates quality fruit preservation minus the moisture. This allows for superior fruit additions without over-processing or nutrient loss.
Most of us are familiar with the tastiness and availability of raspberries. They are one of the world’s most popular berries. They’re known for inspiring candy flavors and oatmeal garnishes, but do you know how good raspberries are for you?
This plump little fruit is packed with antioxidants. Antioxidants are typically at the forefront of conversations regarding disease and illness prevention. They counteract the damaging effects of oxidation and fight free radicals. Raspberries are also full of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is renowned for treating the common cold, and it’s also been shown to improve an array of health activities related to your immune system, cardiovascular health, and vision. Don’t forget (literally) that raspberries also help prevent memory loss and brain function decline related to aging. When you add minerals like potassium, manganese, copper, iron, and magnesium to the already packed nutrient index, raspberries go from yum to beneficial.
We love joining the familiar, sweet flavor and lovely health benefits of raspberry to the plentiful powerhouse known as acai.
First off, it’s completely normal to ask “What is acai?” and “How do I pronounce it?” Before we continue down the road of getting to know this berry and why we love it so much, we’ll offer this: ah-sah-ee. That helps, right?
Even for those in the Western world who are more frequently exposed to acai, many still wonder where this small blueberry-grape-like fruit comes from, how it seemingly ended up an Instagram and health food star, and exactly, what is acai good for?
The small dark purple berry grows on a palm tree in the Amazon region. In its natural state, acai has an earthy taste that is often compared to wild berries with chocolate undertones. Heralded as a food staple since before recorded history, Amazon natives used acai for energy, nutrition, and medicine. Understanding its benefits is an important element to grasping how and why this South American fruit is going mainstream – and why you’ll find it lusciously wrapped up with raspberry and organic dark chocolate in our new bar!
Western exposure to acai came after two friends from the United States witnessed the high consumption of acai during a trip to Brazil in the late ‘90s. Due to its perishability, acai had barely made its way out of the jungle into urban South American neighborhoods for enjoyment. At the time, natives had to shimmy up palm trees to gather the berries, and acai had to be eaten within 24 hours before it lost its freshness. Quality export was not an option, but those who lived in the region used acai as a component in nearly every meal.
The visiting friends loved the fruit and continually sought it out throughout their trip. They envisioned bringing acai back to the United States and introducing it in coffee bars and smoothie shops. The transportation of the berry was a conundrum, and not until they returned to the US did they brainstorm a frozen method of transport that would allow them to bring the berry to the United States in bulk.
It was touted as a superfood, and after select cafes and food producers started using acai regularly, less people were asking “What is acai?” and more people were asking “What is acai good for?” One of the people keenly interested in acai’s health benefits was Dr. Nicholas Perricone, who included the berry in his book, The Perricone Promise: Look Younger, Live Longer in Three Easy Steps. The book hit #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, and acai gained popularity – especially after garnering mentions by Oprah and Dr. Oz.
Acai has proven itself not only a satisfying food choice, but a choice that yields a number of consumption benefits across the health spectrum. Research shows the berry to promote heart, skin, and digestion health. It’s received a superfood label to accompany its high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In fact, acai even has more antioxidants than the ever-popular blueberry. The powerful fruit’s Essential Fatty Acid content is an unusual and pleasant surprise to discover. One would not imagine such a benefit in a berry. Essential Fatty Acids are called essential because the body cannot produce them on their own. They must be gained from your diet. The acai is a good source for EFAs Omegas 3, 6, and 9. Essential Fatty Acids contribute to healthy cell membranes, proper brain, nervous system, and thyroid function, as well as the regulation of immune response. In addition to a laundry list of beneficial vitamins and minerals, amino acids comprise a little over 7% of acai’s make-up. A protein building block, amino acids can positively contribute to muscle and metabolic health.

THE COMFORTING CHARM OF CHOCOLATE
An Old Favorite With New Partners
It was an easy choice to add more chocolate-dipped bliss to our treasure chest of treats. The dark chocolate flakes we use in many of our other flavors deserves a larger stage to reflect its glorious magic. It was a no-brainer to wrap it around our delicious Vanilla Island and delightful Raspberry Acai.
Dark chocolate provides an array of health benefits that go beyond happy taste buds. Studies show that dark chocolate consumption promotes heart health, improves mood, sharpens cognitive function, and harnesses the power of antioxidants, fiber, and minerals.
The organic Fair Trade dark chocolate we use for these dipped bars is the same exquisite chocolate used in our Salted Caramel in Chocolate bars, Coconut Almond in Chocolate bars, and our other blissful offerings with chocolate flakes. Sourced from a family-owned, allergen free facility in a small coastal town south of Lima, Peru, we couldn’t be prouder of the partnership we have with this team. The purchase of this chocolate supports small-scale farmers and builds community, social, and business support programs. You can learn more about it here.
