We believe that business has
the power to do good.
As a woman-led business with a company vision of “Blissful Experiences for All Beings”, Coconut Bliss is inspired by Project Drawdown to find a way to support and enhance the rights and well-being of women and girls. As stated in the book Drawdown, which includes the work of 300 scientists, “women and girls are pivotal to addressing climate change successfully – and to humanities overall resilience.”
Coconut Bliss has committed to improving the lives of women in the Philippines by providing opportunities to start their own businesses.
Women + Business = Reversing Climate Change.
Climate change affects every aspect of life on earth.
Women and girls are especially vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. On average, women make up 43% of the agricultural labor force and produce 60-80% of food crops in the poorest countries of the world. Due to gender inequality, women have fewer resources at their disposal and are often passed over for education opportunities and land ownership. Project Drawdown cites studies that demonstrate “if women have access to the same resources as men – all else being equal – their outputs … exceed men’s by 7-23%”.
So, we asked ourselves the question:
How can Coconut Bliss help women and girls in developing countries where our core ingredients are grown, harvested and processed?
With the support of Global Giving, a crowdfunding community that connects nonprofits with donors, and companies, Coconut Bliss is excited to announce our project collaboration with WAND.
Wave Your Magic WAND
WAND’s Mission: Empowerment of marginal farmers especially the youth by implementing an integrated program of water, agro-forestry, health and sanitation support, nutrition and community organizing. Capacity-building, local leadership development and gender and development cuts across our initiatives. Our main goal is for these families to live dignified lives, fully participating in the life of the community by improving their overall social and economic situation.
The goal of this project is to improve the lives of these women and their families by supporting their small businesses. Donated funds will help them make and sell products such as charcoal from coconut shell, vinegar from coconut water, coco peat, and organic fertilizer. With a financial goal of $40,000 for the project, Coconut Bliss is excited to contribute the first $20,000.
And we need your help!
